Chakravartigal

Chakravartigal
This high-sounding royal title of the earlier pe-riod survived in early medieval India at a more formal plane in the formulas used for describing the royal status of some of the more im-portant Hindu rulers. The title chakravartigal (sovereign of the world) of the Chola kings of the period was an equivalent of the northern chakravartin.
